Birrean Billboards is a 2.5 dimensional sculpture inspired by newly developed free trade zone cities such as Dubai. It explores the aspirational dimension of urban scaled advertisements over the booming city.
Using Birrean, Axen’s invented bird language, the familiar yet other worldly billboards beckon the viewer forth with advertisements of glossy luxury goods and covetable experiences. Yet is this late capitalist lifestyle just a shallow mirage when juxtaposed with our physical realities?
