Cyirpilangi (Birrean Gossip Girl)

Cyirpilangi is a parody of Gossip Girl, a work that was instrumental in transforming the image of NYC into a haven for the wealthy in the late aughts. Beloved by Mayor Bloomberg, Gossip Girl’s storyline and fascination with excess wealth are ridiculous.

This Birrean language version parodies the original, and becomes an experimental film where speakers of various languages communicate in a tongue that is unfamiliar to them. In the absence of comprehension comes a spectacular array of gestures and utterances. The digital setting elaborates on

the artificiality of the premise of the series.
