D.C. Streetscape
Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.Architectural Design, Schematic and Design Development, 2017-2018
OMA with Jason Long, Francisco Waltersdorfer, Tamara Jamil and Sam Biroscak
This project consists of 36 interventions along the bleak streetfront of the gargantuan Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. These proposals include public art, new lighting, paving, a new metro station, a public terrace and new retail kiosks. Through playful acts blurring the experiences of pedestrians and convention center visitors, a more fluid mixing through and around the complex is achieved.
The two largest proposals are elaborated within this project synopsis, and are the two interventions that I designed the closest. As of Summer 2023, the retail kiosks were built and already adding an extra dimension of life to the center.
